born to a two child family in the heart of boston near allston and brighton streets, jason was the oldest of them. he grew up incredibly protective of his little brother, cheolmin aka mini, and often did not share the traditions of their native culture. that was likely due to the fact that he was raised by his free-spirited mother who allowed him to try dyeing his hair wild colors at the age of fourteen. his father had always been the disciplined one, the one who had to put his foot down, for him, his brother and their mother. jason looked up to their mother immensely and drew whatever he could from their bonding experiences. for going against everything and being who she was, jason adored him, and considered her his greatest hero.
jason found a love for dancing early on. he'd been a fidgety child with entirely too much energy, so dancing was a good alternative to him running around the house tearing things up in his boredom. he fell in love at a very young age and excelled. he was quickly enrolled in classes much more advanced than his age, his skill blossoming beneath the careful tutelage of older students. once he hit high school, he was a known choreographer at the studio he'd been going to since he was young, designing dances and routines for classmates older than him.
unfortunately, halfway through high school, everything got uprooted when the family moved out of boston all the way across the country to california. at first it was hard, having to earn all that respect back, but eventually he proved himself. he was part of the gymnastics team in school, choreographed the flag team for their routines during pep rallies, and eventually fell into the rave scene.
after so many years of structured dancing, this new and free way of expressing himself, through only movement with no names to the steps, blew jason's mind. he ate it up, and even began taking lessons from one of the djs because he loved the music so much. he had always been a quick learner and eventually became a staple at clubs and raves both performing his music and his dance.
eventually, his parents decided to move back to the east coast, but both jason and mini had rooted themselves in california, blossoming in a way that meant there was no way they were moving back. while he kept in pretty consistent contact with his father, his mother rarely spoke to him except to ask whether he was in school yet. college had never been a thing for him, but he had enrolled in a dance academy that he quickly went from student to teacher. they hired him on as an instructor, and through his connections ended up becoming the main choreographer for the kpop sensation BTS, around the time he reconnected with his now-wife.
Not long after they got married, Jamie got pregnant, and gave birth to a daughter named Park Eunha, Una for short. For two years things were great, Jamie becoming pregnant again, but it became more obvious that this pregnancy was much more of a strain. When Minjae was born, Jamie lost too much blood and ended up being unable to bounce back. and ended up passing away. After the funeral, Jason moved his small family to Korea to be closer to work, and to be away from the life he'd created with Jamie.
